Tenant rights?
I live in a duplex on the upper half. We have 5 outlets in the kitchen in which 2 work. One outlet works in the bathroom, one outlet works in the bedroom out of two and 3 outlets work in the living room out of four. The lights do not work in the living room, nor do they work in the bedroom or the closet. The fanlight comes on in the bathroom but the normal light does not come on.
I went to turn on the heat today and every baseboard heater in here is broken and does not work either- and my 1 year old neice and my sister are coming out for the weekend this weekend and I have no heat.
Out fridge is junk, the lower part keeps everything room temp and the freezer keeps everything fridge temp.
Yesterday the girl downstairs asked when we were going to help out with the lawn, so now we have to pay for the gas and time to maintain the lawn, but it doesn’t say a single thing in our lease about the lawn. We don’t even have a driveway here!
What should I do and what are my rights?
Give your landlord a chance to fix everything. Does the landlord know this stuff is broken ? Let him know in writing(fax/email would be better) that way there is a record of your concerns. If he does not fix anything and you complain to your local agency he can always say “I didn’t know anything about this”. So CYA. Unless it is in writing the lawn is not your problem. However if he wants to take something off the rent…
